| Welcome to Hirakud College
The idea of establishing the college dates back to 22nd January,1979,when,under the aegis of a maverick personality like the Late Dr. JhasketanSahu,the then Minister of Urban Development and Excise,Government of Odisha, a public meeting attended by people from different walks of life was held, and after much discussion and deliberation, it was resolved to start a college from the following session. Accordingly, a committee of 31 members was formed. The day of deliverance came on the 11th of July 1979. The brain-child of Hirakud public – Hirakud College, Hirakudtook its shape. The college was started in the Administrative Officers Training School (A.O.T.S.) Hostel.
